About Black Pine Tree Sushi Bar

Black Pine Tree Sushi Bar is a cozy spot at 18700 Eureka Rd, Southgate, MI 48195, where fresh sushi and familiar Japanese dishes come together in a relaxed setting. The dining room is simple and snug, making it easy to settle in for lunch or dinner without the formality that sometimes comes with sushi dining. For locals craving carefully prepared rolls, satisfying Japanese comfort food, and friendly service, this restaurant offers plenty to explore.

Sushi is naturally the main attraction. Black Pine Tree Sushi Bar serves both classic choices and more creative specialty rolls, so the menu works well for experienced sushi fans as well as diners who prefer familiar flavors. Guests frequently mention the freshness and taste of the sushi, while the Obama Roll and Firecracker Roll stand out as popular picks. Both have earned attention from regular customers looking for something beyond standard maki rolls.

The Obama Roll is often mentioned as one of the restaurant's signature choices, making it a good place to start if you want to try something distinctive. Meanwhile, the Firecracker Roll brings another bold option to the table. Ordering a few different rolls to share is an easy way to experience more of the menu, especially when dining with friends or family.

However, Black Pine Tree Sushi Bar is not limited to sushi. The kitchen also prepares classic Japanese dishes for anyone in the mood for something warm and filling. Beef curry is one notable choice, offering rich, comforting flavors that pair well with a hearty meal. Katsu is another favorite, providing a crispy, satisfying alternative to raw or rolled seafood. This wider selection makes the restaurant useful for groups where everyone may not be in the mood for sushi.

Service also adds to the experience. Diners regularly describe the staff as friendly and attentive, creating a casual atmosphere where guests can enjoy their meal without feeling rushed. The clean dining environment is another detail customers appreciate, particularly in such a compact restaurant space.

Prices are generally viewed as reasonable, which makes Black Pine Tree Sushi Bar appealing for both casual meals and repeat visits. You can stop in for a couple of rolls, build a larger sushi spread, or choose curry and katsu for a more substantial plate. With fresh sushi, creative specialty rolls, Japanese favorites, and welcoming service, Black Pine Tree Sushi Bar gives Southgate diners a comfortable place to enjoy Japanese food on Eureka Road.

5 stars all day. Wow this sushi was so good…. The salad dressing ? I am head over heels. I’ve been trying to find anything like that since. The beef curry was something I’ve never experienced anything like before. My friend liked it so much she literally kept my leftovers. I don’t have enough good things to say about it. Can’t say much about service or atmosphere since we did take out, but if the food is that good I can only imagine an in-store dining experience would be just as good.

Great place with super friendly staff. Priced very well considering the quality of the fish. I had the Sashimi Deluxe. The quality of fish was fantastic. The presentation was beautiful. My only minor complaint is that the salad was soaked in dressing. That may be a regional (Detroit) thing. The salad was very good but I would have liked a much lighter dressing. I sat at the sushi bar and watched the chefs make other meals. They all looked amazing.

Haven’t been to the place in a while due to life lol. Tonight went to have dinner with my mom. For a Friday they were busy with carry outs and dine ins. But they did not let that stop them from providing great service and even greater food. Will definitely be back; can’t recommend enough the Spicy Scallop roll! Keep up the great work!
